The KK 13 captures the signature sound of acoustic instruments in a remarkably open and natural way. To get there, Neumann engineers rethought the production process for electret-based microphones. Where classic solutions rely on highly integrated designs, Neumann chose a layered structure. Every module of the KK 13 (omni) and KK 14 (cardioid) is built and designed to deliver the perfect result. The components are then assembled by hand in Germany. This eliminates typical compromises and opens the spectrum for formerly unmatched acoustic qualities. While the titanium housing is one ingredient to a road-tough design, it is also an expression of the inner elegance in design and engineering.

The layered design also delivers a yet unheard level of tonal consistency ‒ every capsule sounds exactly the same. It saves engineers the time needed for basic EQing and delivers consistent sound right from the early soundcheck.
