Arturia Wurlitzer V - Software Instrument

Physical modelling means how the instrument is physically played and how its’ sound is reproduced become part of the math! Wurlitzer V from Arturia is a worthy addition to any music-production sound library. As most producers know, the legendary bright and overdriven Wurlitzer sound heard on classic records also comes from the use of fine amplifiers, processing and mic placement. This is why Wurlitzer-V goes further by putting you in command of a studio from the ‘70s, filled with vintage stomp boxes and classic tube amps... everything you need to get a true classic vibe!

Wurlitzer V - THE RETURN OF A CLASSIC
Wurlitzer-V is Arturia’s amazingly accurate physical model of the classic Wurlitzer 200A electric piano.

      A soulful reproduction
Arturia is proud to revive this classic by introducing a high-end recreation built through physical modeling. Where most sample libraries would only focus on recording several aspects of the instrument, Wurlitzer-V brings you every detail, along with a complete studio environment for recreating the full experience of this marvelous electric piano.

      So logical
Boutique effects and guitar tube amps were the key to the alchemy of the Wurlitzer sound, back in the 70’s. Wurlitzer-V reintroduces a modeled studio environment including the very same amps, microphones and effects.
If you are looking for an authentic electric piano, able to take you anywhere from classic mellow sounds to psychedelic heights, Wurlitzer-V is the perfect instrument.

      Physical modeling engine
Physical modeling is a synthesis method in which the waveforms are calculated by a set of equations that were developed by careful analysis of a physical sound source. This is the same technology we used to produce Wurlitzer-V. We modeled all components of the Wurlitzer piano in great detail, analyzing not only the reeds and hammers but also the mechanism and action, including the internal amplification system and acoustic properties of the plastic body.
Wurlitzer-V carefully emulates the physics of the “bag of shot” piano action in the 200A as pictured below, with the hammers striking the flat reeds at around their center point, causing the reed to vibrate and be converted into electric energy by electrostatic pickups.
The result of physical modeling allows notes to actually be played (“constructed” in real-time, like on a real Wurlitzer). The sound is alive, not static: it’s not simply a recording, but a genuine instrument that responds to the player´s interpretation. Moreover, it´s easy on the computer’s CPU, it doesn’t require storing a huge collection of samples, and it avoids the nightmare of tuning each reed.
