The Neumann KM 185 is a hypercardioid small diaphragm condenser microphone. Hypercardioid is a narrower, more directional version of the more commonly used heart-shaped cardioid polar pattern. By nature of their design, hypercardioid microphones offer the best off axis rejection to the side and rear of the capsule. This makes them an ideal choice for spot miking a solo instrument in a large ensemble. The KM 185 is also an excellent option for broadcast, location recording and live sound too. The Neumann KM 185 is an outstanding microphone with a detailed and transparent character.

The KM 185 is also available as a Stereo Set.

      • Neumann KM 185 PRODUCT FEATURES:

The pressure gradient transducers KM 184 and KM 185 feature very smooth frequency responses not only for the 0° axis, but also for lateral (off-axis) sound incidence. In typical usage, there is no coloration of sound over a wide pickup angle.

The KM 185 with its hypercardioid characteristic features attenuation of sound incidence from the side or rear of about 10 dB, with minimum sensitivity at an angle of 120°.
