Tascam have revealed the new DR-680mkII at NAMM 2015 - an 8-track Portable Multichannel Field Recorder that records up to 192kHz resolution!
The 6 mic/line inputs and digital input channels will allow simultaneous recording of up to 8 tracks at 96kHz/24-bit. Also, when the digital input isn't being used, a two-channel mix can be recorded to tracks 7 & 8 with completely seperate level and pan settings from the other 6 tracks. This is a great feature if you need to share a stereo mix quickly whilst retaining the multitrack version for final mixing.
At 192kHz/24-bit, 2 tracks can be recorded in WAV/BWF format. Simultaneous recording of up to 4 channels of MP3 (stereo or mono) are also possible - great for producing smaller file sizes when doing long recordings.
Improved battery life, audio quality, and support for SDXC cards are also on the list of improvements over the original DR-680.
