The RØDE K2 Variable Pattern Dual 1" Condenser Valve Microphone is an excellent inexpensive tube-mic, that excels on male rock vocals. The K2 has a warm and raspy sound quality, with good clarity in the mid-frequencies. The K2 has a variable polar pattern, that can be adjusted from the power supply to go between a directional cardioid pattern to a wide omni. Figure -8 is also possible, making it an ideal side microphone for MS recording. Of particular note, and especially for an inexpensive valve microphone, the K2 has very low self noise.
