Form follows performance. With its compact profile, the SL88 Grand is an extremely portable professional controller. Even with its high-end graded hammer action / wooden keyboard, it weighs less than 21 kilograms. The SL88 Grand is studio and stage ready with a rugged full metal casing. Sculptured endcaps made of a highly resistant synthetic material help to shield the premium TP40 wood keybed perfectly and provide a safe grip when handling and transporting.
My 2 cents: Buy one, open your best piano and have ago. If you're a serious piano player, most likely you're not going to be very impressed. Then install the SL editor software and read the manual on how to set the SL curve and Key balance. Spend sometime adjusting everything to your taste and if you're a serious piano player, most likely this will be the best non-real key bed you've ever played on. But I need to reiterate; you NEED to spend sometime adjusting it to your feel.
Other great features: 4 zones. Very user friendly display and controls. The flexibility it offers with 3 independent midi outs, 4 independent pedal (controllers) input and 3 Joysticks - everything customisable to the minor detail - As far as I know, no other 88key midi controller offers so many possibilities.
And the cherry on top of the cake, the SL editor software - Really great. So logical and intuitive as opposed to Yamahas and Korgs. And don't let me start with Rolands softwares, settings and manuals.
Long story short - Buy it, customise it and be happy!
