  • Components for Novation Circuit

    April 18, 2016 2 min read

When the Novation Circuit was released last year, there was a buzz of excitement amongst the music production community - A hardware device that did not look to hardware-synth classics from decades past for inspiration. Novation Circuit created a fusion of the best elements of grid-style music production in a stand alone groove-box, allowing you to make music with no computer at all. Novation have now just announced Circuit Components, and here’s what it’s all about.

To summarise Circuit Components offer four new feature categories: 1) Firmware Update, 2) Software Editor, 3) Librarian and 4) Sample Import.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the new Components feature for Circuit is you can now upload your own samples into Circuit. Check out the video below for the full rundown from Novation.

    Firmware 1.2 Feature Summary
Record MIDI into the inbuilt sequencer using an external controller. You can also use this feature to control the internal synth parameters of Circuit.
Momentary record allows you to hold down the record button and capture your performance into your track.
Per-step Automation clear enables you to adjust specific parameters on an individual step, whilst Circuit is not playing.

    Circuit Librarian
The Librarian utilises Google’s web MIDI allowing you to back up your session online and gives you remote access. It’s designed to create a back-up of all 32 sessions so you can delete all sessions and start again.

Isotonik Studios Software Editor for Circuit.
Allows you to create your own presets using the two synth’s within Circuit, save them and then load them back into Circuit.

If you don’t own Novation Circuit, but would like to know more about it check out the video below, and be sure to visit the Novation product page for the full rundown on the Novation Circuit Components update.
