Modal Electronics, after the successful release of their 002 hybrid-Synth, have now just released a smaller, cost effective younger-brother of the 002. The 001. One of the key features of the new 001, is its 2 discrete voices, taken directly from the 002. Modal Electronics describe this hybrid digital/analogue synth as being “truly duophonic”.
The 001 is also a extremely pleasing to the eye - featuring dressed timber side panels and bone white interface, and the same 4.3 inch colour display found on the 002. The 3 octave keyboard boasts a FATAR TP/9 velocity sensitive key-bed with aftertouch.
With the announcement of the 002’s younger-brother the 3 octave, 2 voice 001, Modal Electronics have also released a rack-mountable version of the 002 Synth.
Their concept was two-fold, and in response to customer feedback. Firstly they aimed to address studio’s that couldn’t physically fit a full-sized 002 keyboard, but secondly it will also function as an expander unit for existing owners of the original 002’s. Increased polyphony count is possible in multitimbral mode with the latest OS - 7.25.
The Dark lord has arrived! Following on from the success of the outstanding 002 hybrid synth, Modal Electronics have now entered the fully analogue arena with the inclusion of the 008 all analog, 8 voice polyphonic synth. This keyboard looks like a beast - visually and sonically. Modal are a zero compromise company. Everything has to be right. The look, the build and the sound. Again they have hit the ball out of the park and I can't wait to get my hands on this incredible synth! Stay tuned.
