Blue Microphones Dragonfly - Condenser Microphone

    1 In Stock

The Dragonfly is great for higher-frequency sounds - alto and soprano vocals, acoustic guitar, drum overheads, electric guitar, and saxophone. The Dragonfly generates a silky extended top-end while gently accentuating the lower frequencies that thicken thin signal sources. Enclosed within a rotating spherical grill, the capsule can be positioned and adjusted in the smallest of spaces.

      • Blue Microphones Dragonfly PRODUCT FEATURES:

The buzz is building for Dragonfly...

"We listened to the recordings, and our jaws dropped in unison. With the other mics we were hearing recordings of varying quality; with the Dragonfly it was different. We were no longer listening to a recording of a Fender amp – we were listening to a Fender amp…This microphone represents a stunning achievement in bringing high-bracket quality to a reasonable price point. For pop vocals in particular, its performance is exemplary once you find the right spot, and it's the best mic I've heard for recording a guitar amp. Ever."

"The sound has a slight 'tube-y' quality. Only in the upper frequencies (10-15 kHz) is any boosting evident, resulting in exquisitely airy highs, great detail, and an accurate overall response. That, combined with the mic's exceptional transient response, makes the Dragonfly an excellent choice for a wide range of instruments, including drums and percussion, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass-cabinets, and saxophones."

"When the combination of mic and source worked it certainly produced superbly detailed, intimate and full-bodied results, and this was, to be fair, the case most of the time."

"I set impossibly high standards for guitar sounds. I like a shimmery steel-stringed acoustic sound. The Dragonfly puts across this sound perhaps better than any other mic I’ve used. Yet, with some positioning changes, it can also put across a woodsy sound. In getting the mic into position, the integrated shockmount along with the pivoting mic head make it easy to get fast mic placements."

"Its inherent sonic signature is, if not precisely "complex," nonetheless eccentric in just those ways that give a mic character. The Dragonfly is certainly that: a permanent sonic friend with skads of character. This mic allows its user to experiment, adjust, maneuver and manipulate its placement in every imaginable way in search of just those off-axis and slight tilts or angles of approach that impart a sonic edge . . . that lend a recording its most musical results."
